Senior Accounts Payable Officer
We are seeking a highly organised and experienced Senior Accounts Payable Officer to take ownership of our clients Accounts Payable function and support the wider finance team in a fast-paced environment. This is a permanent, full-time position reporting to the Finance Manager.
The Role
The core responsibility of the Senior Accounts Payable Officer is to manage the full Accounts Payable cycle. This role requires a strong understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and Accounts Payable functions.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Accounts Payable Management: Taking ownership of the full Accounts Payable cycle, ensuring accurate invoice processing, timely payments, and complete documentation, as well as maintaining accurate records.
- Purchase Order Maintenance: Overseeing the creation, maintenance, and tracking of purchase orders and ensuring they are matched to corresponding invoices.
- Reconciliations: Performing monthly reconciliations of overhead costs and regular reconciliations of company credit card transactions.
- Debtor Invoicing: Preparing and issuing debtor invoices accurately and on time.
- Credit Management: Reviewing and assessing credit applications for new clients and suppliers, and supporting the management of organisational credit policies.
- Cash Flow Support: Supporting cash flow forecasting for overhead projects.
- Other Duties: Assisting the Finance Manager with ad hoc reconciliations, financial analysis, reporting, and other finance-related tasks.
Essential requirements for success in this role:
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a similar finance/Accounts Payable role within a fast-paced, confidential environment.
- Strong understanding of financial processes, accounting principles, and Accounts Payable functions.
- Experience with Cheops software is highly desirable.
- Strong proficiency in financial systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Office applications (particularly Excel) for data analysis, reconciliations, and reporting.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong organisational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
